Stratford Career Institute - High School Diploma Review from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I don't think people understand after you receive the diploma its more of advanced payed for ticket to qualifying you to take the State test that's why collages close the Door in the face....you have two chances to pass and it cost a 2-300 plus for state test and no job is guaranteed and internship doesn't pay......it research ways to ask the right question and the right people if your invested. .....

NON-Accredited, theory based diploma. Not worth the high cost

I spent close to $700 on the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program at Stratford Career Institute and when I was applying for a position at a day care center, the administrator went to inquire about the "college"

She wrote to them:

"Hi, I have a position available in office for an Early Childhood Educator. An applicant has told me she has her ECE and shown me her certificate from you institute. I am unable to find your name on the recognized names list of ECE diploma schools. Can you explain to me what this certificate allows this applicant to doe. If this is not an ECE certificate where does she go from here to complete her training?"

Response from Stratford Career Institute by Christina Ureche, Student Service

"I received your email concerning out ECE program and would like to offer you the following information.

The ECE course offered through our institute is non-accredited, theory based diploma program. Our programs are specifically designed to serve as an introduction or enhancement of the theoretical knowledge required for the vocational application of the subject. It is intended to help individuals in the furtherance of their vocational training, and is not inteded as substitute for licensing requirements, which may include an apprenticeship or additional training.

As a correspondence school, we cannot guarantee that all employers will accept our diploma. Each employer sets their own policies regarding hiring standards and job requirements. Out program may not meet the requirements in your area; it is possible that your applicant may need further training to meet the standards in your area."

Honestly they are good interns of getting you to complete the "non-accredited" diploma but after that they are not much help when you are looking start the career. I would just caution anyone who is thinking to spend hard earned money on this institution for a paper that won't get you very far.

so true its all false ,waist of my money and time ....

So long as SCI feels that someone supports them, what with all the claims that they are a long-standing educational something or other, they will continue to come up with excuses. The above reply they gave to the ECE employee IS the scam itself, and they will continue to use it so long as everyone is buying it.

These institutions are after one thing, and one thing alone - the money. Don't be fooled by their monthly payment plans. To me it's one of the telling signs of their low 'self-confidence'.

Non-accredited equals WORTHLESS, making your diploma, your money, and all your employment prospects the same.

Worthless course ended up being a total rip-off

I was interested in becoming a Ontario licensed Private Investigator, so I looked it up online only to find SCI at the top of the list. I called them and joined.

I completed the course within one month, and earned 100%. It was finally time to apply for the provincial license I did all this work for. I tried to obtain some information and I was asked for my 'course completion number', which I had never been issued. I called SCI to inquire about it, and was told by a [knowing] employee that to his knowledge Stratford did not issue these numbers.

Excuse me? Say that again? Could you please let me speak to your supervisor? The supervisor confirmed the horrid news.

I made a hundred phone calls during one month or so, to try to rectify this situation - to the ministry, to Serco-des, to the test drive center, to Service Ontario, to other colleges and training providers. In the end, it was evident that I had been ripped off, and finally ended up doing what the ministry advised me to do - retake the course with a legitimate, ministry-approved training provider. I did that (paid another $350 or so!), passed my licensing exam last week, and just finished applying for my provincial license. But needless to say, Stratford knew very well how worthless their $900 course was to anyone who took it.

A bunch of information that even I could provide and make available to anyone! ALL states in US and all Canadian provinces require a license to work in, so why are you providing worthless written material that everyone is going to inevitably retake in order to obtain the license they require??? I believe SCI to be a legitimate scam (speaking as an investigator), and they would not be the first organization I have uncovered and brought to light. They are not even accredited, and no one under the sun acknowledges them as a legitimate educational institution or entity.

If you want to take a grossly expensive course in order to hang on the wall and brag about to friends and neighbours, that's your choice. No one will care about their diploma, anyhow. SCI claims their courses are for "personal fulfillment". Well, they should not be near $1000 then, but near $200 at most, last time I checked this product line.

What a scam. Beware.

Enrolled in Legal Assistant/Paralegal program

I just enrolled in the program to begin learning about laws to help me with my Credit Management Career. The information sheet I was sent clearly has the information in a nice little box that is a different colour from the flyer letting me know that "this course is to serve as an introduction or enhancement of the theoretical knowledge required for the vocational furtherance of vocational training, and is not intended as a substitute for licensing or certification requirements, which may include an apprenticeship or additional training, required by provincial laws"

The college is upfront, they don't hide it and it's not their fault if people don't do their research.

If I like the law program then I may enroll in TriOs college for evening classes, which will cost me a few thousand dollars and go through the hassle of driving half an hour after working all day and missing out on my children for a few nights a week.

If you get to the end of your program and realize the diploma is not accredited or recognized it's your own fault for not reading the information that was sent to you... period.

Stratford Career Institute Program Review

I was thinking about enrolling into this school and always looks for accredation followed by the amount i would be paying for a program. Although the prices were good the accreditation wasn't. No logos/symbols on the website and I even emailed the school and they confirmed the school wasn't accredited which made me not enroll.

Review about High School Diploma from Albuquerque, New Mexico

Got my "diploma" couldn't use it anywhere and paid money that I worked my butt off for plus single mom here and can hardly afford living expenses. All I wanted was a chance of a better future for myself and my child.it's a huge disappointment and a big dream crusher to hear that all you're hard work and waisted money was for nothing. I bet these scamers have no remorse. Smh

I was charged over $700 for a low quality course I never agreed to take

I was interested in Stratford Career Institute's "Fashion merchandising and design" diploma program, and was sent the first book "as trial". I never agreed to sign up for the actual course but I was still charged over $700, though I had never agreed to continue with the program. As for quality, the first book was ridiculous. It was written by a magazine editor whom shouldn't quit her day job. She sounds like a delusional thirteen year old and has no knowledge or experience in the actual fields of "Fashion design or merchandising". Most of her book was about the celebrities she had interviewed, her closet, outfits of choice and it seemed unnecessarily autobiographical. There were absolutely no solid guidelines as to how to enter the "Fashion merchandising or design" industry. I would not recommend Stratford institute.

I actually found the modules great reading and helpful. I am only on module 2 but this is even more enlightening and whimsical than the first book. Thank you Annemarie Iverson.
